USSBA Marching Band Network

All-
I live in Waterford, CT, and have a daughter who attends the Science and Technology Magnet School and participates in the New London High School Marching Band. My oldest daughter was a member of the Waterford High School Marching Band and I am well aware of the USSBA and all of its functions, having attended many competitions and watched my oldest daughter's band win the inaugural National Championship for their group at Annapolis, MD.

At present, New London doesn't have a USSBA competition of their own (but does attend other competitions). I am working with the band director there (Mr. Scott Morgan), and we're trying to figure out how to host our own competition.

Does anyone have any guidance they can give us? Since Waterford no longer participates in USSBA and doesn't have a marching band anymore, would it be possible there is a hole in scheduling dates such that we wouldn't be too much in direct competition with other competitions? Who do we have to contact? What paperwork would we have to fill out? What are the fees? What else am I missing that needs to be done to get there?

Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Jay,

I think your questions would be best answered if you contacted someone on the USSBA staff directly. I'm sure they have their hands full this weekend with Nationals, but once that is over they will begin preparing for next year. From what I've seen, they are always interested in hearing from schools that want to host shows. I have pasted the staff contact info from the USSBA website (www.usbands.org) below. I'm sure if you contact one of these individuals they will be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck!
